StevePhelps 0 #2 April 26, 2005 I use an ILO DVDR04. (cheap $140) It makes +R/RW DVDs. You can put intros on it and and other chapters later. You can keep adding chapters until you FINALIZE it. Press STOP when you transition and it makes chapters (easier to edit that way -- as if you screw up an portion you can delete that chapter and go again.) Right now we charge extra for DVD but 90% of tandfem/aff stiuudents want it -- it won't be long when we will have to chaqrge extra for VHS, as it is obsolete. However a recorder that does both + and -, would be better if you had to convert it, because a customer's DVD couldn't play either - or +

ChangoLanzao 0 #5 April 26, 2005 I too shopped around and researched this a lot and finally went with THIS, $353 at BuyDig.com., in mid-March. It has worked like a charm. It is very easy to use to merge the files and burn a DVD. If your doing linear editing of tandem videos you can have the trailer and header clips on the hard drive, then firewire your tandem vidi directly to the hard drive (the LVW-5045 comes with a 160GB HD!). If you want to put a music track on the tandem video, you can mix it in using the RCA inputs while you transfer the video to the hard drive. ****************************
Pendejo 0 #6 April 26, 2005 I bought a Phillips for our video concession about a year ago. My only complaint was the finalize time (Lew fixed that for me by telling me about using +RW DVD's = no need to finalize.) It works great and is very easy to use. Here is a link to the model we have. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=326459&is=REG Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!! Fuzzy 0 #7 April 26, 2005 We use two Sony RDR GX-7's The finalizing time for our tandem vids seems to be averaging 5-6 minutes. Not sure why (not being a techie) but the longer the video the shorter the finalizing time. Fuzzy Ambition / Ability: Know the difference.
Fuzzy 0 #8 April 26, 2005 Quote+RW DVD's = no need to finalize Has not finalizing ever caused the disc to not play in someones player? My understanding was that this was one of the compatibility issues with some dvd players. I'm using -RW's and would love to save the finalizing time if possible, but was concerned about getting calls saying the disc wouldn't play. Fuzzy Ambition / Ability: Know the difference. Fuzzy 0 #9 April 26, 2005 QuoteRight now we charge extra for DVD but 90% of tandfem/aff stiuudents want it -- it won't be long when we will have to chaqrge extra for VHS, as it is obsolete. We charged extra for DVD until last Sept, then just up'ed the price for VHS to match it. Like you, we found most everyone (95%+) wanted DVD anyway, so this was easier than having two prices.
