StevePhelps 0 #1 April 20, 2005 a few weeks a go my new tongue switch stuck and started firing continually. I changed back to my bite switch. I wrote Para-Gear and asked them if that happens often. While I was waiting on a reply I decided to test it again. Now it doesn't stick! What gives? What could cause it to do that? Should I try it on a jump again? Miami 0 #2 April 20, 2005 Spit maybe? Not really sure...I never had much luck with tongue or bite switches, thats why I use a blow switch. Hope this helps...Miami
PhreeZone 20 #3 April 20, 2005 I had the same issue. Write to Conceptus, not Paragear. Turns out that the membrane on mine had a tiny pin hole that when the switch was pressed in formed a vacumn and kept the switch in. I played with it enough trying to duplicate the issue that it ripped a hole and the entire skin ripped open. I was told to send it in for a replacement but I have been traveling so I have'nt had a chance to do that yet. They reccommended using some chemical to try to "melt" the materal and to cover the pin hole. I thinkn I'm just getting a Bite switch anyways.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

chopchop 0 #6 April 21, 2005 I had the same problem.. I used it like that for a few months.. It'd be great for th first half of the jump then it would stick for the rest of the jump.. I'd turn the camera off when my canopy opened, unplug the switch and be good to go for the landing shots.. It would be ok in 15-20 minutes and then do the same thing the next load.. If you are shooting tandems with a digital Rebel it's not horrible.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
eUrNiCc 0 #7 April 21, 2005 I had the same problem recently. A little hole tore in the membrane, hence forming a vacuum and filling the switch itself with spit. I also had the problem where it would work fine for the first half of the jump and about half way through it would fire continuous. I believe that happened because after the first 10 shots, the inside switch was so saturated with spit that it shorted the circut. After a few minutes it'll dry out and start working normally again. My solution was to let it dry out, test it attached to the camera to assure it was working properly, then sealing it again by dipping it in "Liquid Electrical Tape" (about $5 at home depot). It's been working fine ever since. (**WARNING: There is a "do not ingest" warning on the label for this stuff. It may not be the healthiest substance to seal up a bite switch with. Please don't sue me.) Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
