Digital Rebel XT Error 22

Recommended Posts

So I took my brand new toy to the dz this weekend. My boyfriend took it on a few wonderful jumps with him. A sweet hybrid, someones 4000th jump and a friends recurrency tandem.
Starting shooting on Friday with it, took a bunch of freefall photos on Saturday with it and then received error 22. It totally locked up the camera, we stuck the memory card into a laptop and all the files are corrupt :( The card is Lexor (sp?) 512 mb--which I have heard suck so I will be returning those.
We had a second card that a friend borrowed, he went up and shot some photos with just a Digital Rebel. We ended up sticking that card back in the XT, now those files are corrupt as well :(
I did find this info about error 22:

ERR 22: CF DRIVER
DESCRIPTION: This error occurs when image data cannot be written to the CF card. This error can occur when the CF card is not fully seated in the camera or if the D30 does not detect a card-ready signal within a specified time limit or when the CF card is not usable because it has been corrupted or physically damaged. It can also occur when the camera's battery level is insufficient to completely write the file to the CF card.
REMEDIAL MEASURE: Use the DC Coupler or recharge the battery first. If the error continues to occur with sufficient power available to the camera, check that the CF card is properly inserted. If that's not the problem, then try replacing the CF card. If that does not solve the problem, have the EOS D30 and one of the CF cards that is causing the problem examined by a qualified service technician.

I haven't had a chance to try their suggestions, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
The fact that all those photos are most likely gone is just heartbreaking. :(

Sigma 15mm, which was purchased at the same time (last week) as the XT from a camera shop.
I'm not exactly sure of the year because I don't have the camera on me right now.

Not that this is the problem, but find out exactly which Sigma lens you have. What year it was made, or what version. Even though you bought it new, it might be an older lens...which has caused this exact error problem for the original digital camera users.
