Zeemax 0 #1 April 4, 2005 For those camera flyers who have more money than sense, and are interested in broadcast quality (i'm sure i saw someone mention it earlier in a thread) solid state recording thats tiny, check this out... http://www.ovation.co.uk/FlashBack/FlashBack.html They're a bit bigger than credit card sized and about the thickness of a CD case. Very, very impressive stuff. Just hook up your sources (cam, audio etc) hit record and you're off. Then take the card out, put it in your laptop and its all ready to go. Very neat... FeFe 0 #3 April 5, 2005 Quoteinterested in broadcast quality DVD is not exactly broadcast quality plus the thing accepts only MPEG2 and only through 25D (I think that's what it's called) connector sorry man, won't work a neat toy though one of the majors (Panasonic?) was working on a HD cam on flash cards, but because of the current card capacity it did not make sence
EricTheRed 0 #4 April 5, 2005 Looking at the schematic it looks like the 25D connector is just the interface. It looks like it would be pretty easy to fab a connector to adapt for RCA and power in. There are pins ID'd as record control and record indicator light so you could mount a cam-eye like remote and indicator. I'd sure like to play with one but just spent my allowance on a new FF2.illegible usually
Zeemax 0 #5 April 5, 2005 Rich because... the unit is £2600 It may mention DVD on that list, but i work in the broadcast industry and can assure that the recording ability is definately up to scratch. The connector on the on the unit is for a loom, not the actual plug in bits. The loom then provides cam inputs, audio inputs etc, on/off.. things like that. It really is a neat peice of kit Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
EricTheRed 0 #6 April 5, 2005 Yikes! That's nearly $5,000 USD. In a couple of years though it'll be cheap and our mini DV's will be nostalgic antiques.illegible usually
