turtlespeed 226 #1 February 4, 2005 What is the preffered exit position for 12 way 3 cessna formation loads? V pattern (Lead Plane, left trail, right trail) Which plane and why? So far - I have jumped lead and Left trail - both a couple of times. Just looking for opinions and interesting ideas for still shots and video.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
vdschoor 0 #2 February 4, 2005 Personally I would try to get on the right trail plane, that way you have an un-obstructed view of the whole formation.. Although shots OVER the plane of the formation are cool too.. It's whatever you're looking for I guess..
diverds 0 #3 February 5, 2005 If it's out of Cessna's I think he would want the left trail plane to get the unobstructed view since they have a right side door and all I would also try to get in the "all the way out" position and squat down as far as possible to get the strut out of the frame. Or you could hang off the back of the door beside the fuselage and get a cool view of the jumpers from your plane exiting as well. We do Cessna formation loads at our dz as well. I never get tired of watching the airplanes in formation, it's just too cool. Have fun! Skydive Radio
mark135 0 #4 February 5, 2005 Just wondering how the right trail knows when to go? We have always done a lead, trail and trail trail. In that situation being in the trail trail is the place to be._______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
diverds 0 #5 February 6, 2005 We do it the same way but you could probably look thru the windshield of the right airplane well enough to pick up on the exit if you were flying it the way he described. Im with you though, trail trail is easier. Skydive Radio
turtlespeed 226 #6 February 10, 2005 I'll try to get them to do the lead - left trail - left trail formation next time. Sounds like a better scenario - Are there any concerns as far as safety that way?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
