Ringsight post location

Recommended Posts

I'm about to purchase my first camera helmet (Bonehead Flattop Pro) and have a question regarding the ring sight.

First of all, what is the best way to determine if the post should be placed on the right or the left side of the helmet?

Secondly, what is the difference between the 6mm and 1/4" site post (apart from the fact they are different sizes).

All help greatly appreciated.

The FTP is a great helmet. What eye dominat are you? That will play a factor in which side you want the post on. Pretend to pick up a gun and close an eye to sight it. What eye did you close and what one did you open?

The 1/4 vs 6mm depends on what ringsite and what adapter you are going to put on it. Brents rings are the best and you can get them in either size if I remember right.

Thanks Lori, turns out I'm "ambi-eyed" by the suggested test....Guess I'll go with right side - that's what I use for rifle and pistol shooting.

Now for figuring out the 6mm vs 1/4" thing.

And I absolutely *love* touching people (and will be doing so a lot in the coming year). The video is going to be primarily for the school once I get my skills up to a sufficient level.

It was either camera or get my tandem rating ;)

It's the same difference between a 6mm and 1/4" bolt. It's just a standard, of which, unfortunately, there are two. All you need to worry about is that all your stuff has the same standard.

Lemme know when you want to start crawling around the outside of the otters. You may be vaguely aware that ours are a little "different" from one another and the rest of the planet's.

Also, get one of us to look at your gear and give you some safety tips before you jump it. Any of the Perris regular 4-way camera flyers would be more than happy to help you out.
