ZigZag 0 #1 April 18, 2003 www.pia.com addressed the question of the reserve flap closing sequence on Eclipse containers. One closing sequence (viewed from the yoke of the container lying in front of you) is inner top rsv. flap # 1, inner bottom rsv. flap # 2, pilot chute, left side flap # 3, right side flap # 4, upper rsv. flap # 5, lower rsv. center flap # 6 and then the pin protector cover. This sequence pertains to those Eclipse systems were the pin protector cover does not tuck in to a slot. The free-fly friendly version of the Eclipse rig features a slot for the pin protector cover as found on the more recent Javelins and the flap closing sequence transposes the closing numbers for the number 5 & 6 flaps, in other words, the lower rsv. center flap becomes # 5 and the upper rsv. flap # 6. The Eclipse as a sport rig is currently no longer manufactured, so this is also a pointer in support for those that own an Eclipse. Refer to the relevant and appropriate manual. A similar change occurred years ago when the RWS(Vector) modified their pin protector cover flaps from velcro to tuck tabs on the Vector II, albeit in reversed order. Please read this carefully, as I don't want to create a lot of confusion. I would also like to create more awareness for those riggers that are not members of the moderated riggers forum on the PIA web-site. Check it out.
