shogo 0 #1 December 22, 2004 To anyone using Sony DCR-HC85 for skydiving: It seems to me that the lens sit lower than the TRVs. I mean it would be closer to the top plate of somthing like Flat Top Pro. Would the still camera lens on the front bracket get in the view of the video? any cons using it for skydiving? I read it somwhere here that Cameye II had some trouble.
r2hubert 0 #2 December 22, 2004 I use it on a Flat Top Pro. I'm really happy with it except that the battery are different, the video output plug is different, the charger plug is different.... than my other sony camera (PC101). But it's a great camera and the still doesn't get in the way if you don't go for a .42 lens. They are no DBox available for it yet ... And I notice the battery burn fast they announce 120 minutes on the p50 and I only get 70minutes. They announce 240minutes on the p70 and I only got 180minutes.... Any one else got same results ?? -- Renaud SMA #9 "Mind is like parachute. It only functions when it's open."
shogo 0 #3 December 22, 2004 Thanks! what kind of still lens do you use? (where?) do you use cameyeII with your HC85?
shogo 0 #4 December 22, 2004 What kind of Fader options does it come with? Like mosaic etc..
r2hubert 0 #5 December 22, 2004 I use a 0.5 and 0.45 for the Camcorder and the lens that come standard with the Canon Rebel EOS. I also use an old Cameye and the only thing that will not work is the option to turn on the camcorder after turning it off... But every thing else work just fine. I didn't really look into the fader option but I imagine they can't be less that what is in the previous models... -- Renaud SMA #9 "Mind is like parachute. It only functions when it's open." jimmytavino 16 #7 December 23, 2004 ( see attachment) I replaced it with the HC-85.... Nice camera.... Good quality video. nice compact size..Carl Zeiss Lens It works fine with my cam eye II.. although I do NOT use the cam eye button to operate the camera.. I am comfortable with running it from the switch on the camera...The indicator lights all work fine... You may need to consider a strobo-frame... or some type of quick connect,,, since all the "effects" controls are on the viewfinder... ( that has taken some time to get used to )... BUT by hand holding it on the ground,, and taking it off the helmet after take off,,, it is easy to take advantage of the fader,, overlap,,manual settings etc Trying to work the camera that way.. while it is still fixed to the helmet can be bulky and awkward... .... Plan to spend a lot of time to learn how to dance through the various menus,, and you can accomplish quite a bit,,, while actually recording... Set it up the way you want,,, well before exit altitude,, hook back up to the helmet,,, and exit exit exit.. It has the newer "memory stick duo". Which comes with an adapter to fit into printer ports ... The still only capabilty,, For ground shots etc... is 1.92 mega pixel... You can also grab frames off the paused video,, and get fairly decent results.. I only have a couple of dozen jumps on mine... we are now Into winter,, around these parts.... so soon.. i do hope to learn more about how to best utilize this fine camcorder... i paid 850 cash for it,( no sales tax), new,,, from a local sony rep... where i buy tapes,, lenses back up batteries etc.... so far so good.. You can still use it to switch from record to standby and vice versa." you said your "new" cameyeII" works fine now. you mean you can turn the camera on from off status? where did you order this new cameyeII? thanks shogo
 skyboyblue 0 #10 December 29, 2004 anywhere you can find the cameye II, just ask for version 2.2. This one is compatible with HC-85. Also, I have a D-box for a TRV model(can't remember which) that works very well with this camera. A few minutes with a dremel on the backside for the extended battery helps.
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
