Flash setup post your speedlight

Recommended Posts

Here is a pic of me taken by Joel Burnap,
basically my speedlight is attached by camera lock velco (the heavy duty platic kind) to the top of my camera mount. A few stow bands are around it also for peace of mind. Then I bought the Nikon cable that connects the flash to the camera. It is 5' long, so I had an electronic engineer cut it down and splice it together for me. Now it is about 8" long.
Works good, could get snagged, but I feel it would rip off and break first.

Hope this helps,

I am just waiting for my FTP tp arrive from the US. I have my PC 8 and 20D with my sigma 15mm and was looking at getting the speedlight 580 so need some ideas! i like the look of yours on mounted on its side. Does the flash not need to have the infra red thingy in line of sight?

and also looking at a 3 chip to put on top maybe the dcr hc 1000 as i dont like the pc8 sticking up .

I don't know about the red light in the front.

I know it's used to help with autofocus in low light conditions, but other than that I haven't had problems with it.

I set mine up almost fully manual though, and I haven't had any problems so far.. I guess I should look back in the manual again one of these days.

I am looking into mounting it upright though, but that's a project for next year.
