What type of computer do you have? I realise you said HP but can you be more specific?

Does your computer have a FireWire port?

What video editing software do you have? Again, can you be more specific?

sony picture software package v1.0 that comes with pc350. i use a docking station and a usb cable to a front port on the hp. i have no trouble with the transfer of photos and jmegs using the docking station. pictures are sent to hard drive and into a folder of the picture package software. i then choose tape from the play/edit on the power controller and don't get a transfer. if i place the controller to camera/tape on the camera, the transfer will take place and record anything that i am pointing the camera to and it is sent to the hard drive. hpoe this helps.

Ok, I think I understand what the issue is.

I don't think you can use the USB streaming mode of the camera to transfer recorded videotape.

I think you -have- to use the FireWire (iLink, IEEE 1394) ports.

Further, I -believe- the Sony picture software is just for the more compressed and low bandwidth digital pictures and mpeg data.

Sounds like you need new software for your computer.

Something in the line of THIS

Do a search there, they have alot of video editing software. Depends on how professional you'd like to edit.

Yep, I've had the same problem. As long as your software from Sony is properly down loaded, and you set up your PC350 for USB stream, and switch that little switch on the cradle to USB to "on," you'll hear a chime from your PC that your hooked up.

The program is menu driven from your PC. You'll also need to make sure your camcorder is on the edit/play menu too. The software from your PC will drive your camcorder, and you'll see what is being recorded onto your hard drive.

Picture Package I am finding is very limited as far as editing and burning a DVD goes. My Pioneer DVD burner won't recognize the program. I can't burn.
