Sending back to tape problem

Recommended Posts

This question is for a friend and not skydive related but hopefully someone will have a solution.

My friend has a Sony HC20. He uses a firewire card 6 pin at the pc end and 4 pin into the camera.

He uses Sonic foundry vegas 4 for editing.

He has no problems downloading and editing footage. However, when he tries to send it back to the camera through "Print to DV tape" it starts recording on the camera but only flashes of his finished edit appear on his camera screen.

I use sonic vegas 4 and have a PC105. We tried to send his stuff to my camera but the same problem occured.

His settings on vegas are the same as mine and I have no problem with sending back to camera with my own stuff. My set up is direct 4pin firewire from laptop to camera.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just experienced the same prob an hour ago [:/]

My laptop did the same. The footage was on an usb2-connected external hd, the camera was on a firewire pcmcia card. Switched the hd to the laptop's own firewire port, connected the camera to the 2nd firewire on the hd, problem solved :S

Maybe 2 firewire controllers in the same computer are too much? The usb2 hd worked fine when capturing from firewire but not the other way round...
