skycutie 0 #1 December 7, 2004 I was offered a used Canon ELURA 50 MiniDV Digital Camcorder for $450!!!! Will I be able to attach this type of camera to a helmet and use it for skydiving? Any advice will be very appreciated. Thanks, Jess MEN: you can't live with 'em, you can't shoot 'em, but you can act psychotic and keep 'em off balance. DaGimp 0 #2 December 7, 2004 Jess, really you can attach any kind of camera to your head for skydiving.....how it will hold up and perform is another thing. For skydiving, sony has the market for videos. I didnt see anything about a LAC port so not sure if you can use a cam eye with it. i found on the net that used is going for $445, so your not getting ripped off. any other specifics let me know, ill see what i can dig up."Professor of Pimpology"~~~Bolas

StevePhelps 0 #4 December 7, 2004 For that price, $450, you can get a SONY HC20 which works extremely well. That is what I have. Hard to go wrong with a Sony!
mgerra28 0 #5 December 7, 2004 stay away from cannons...sony is far better than any other line when it comes to skydiving. The TRV-19 22 is a great camera. I believe they are under $450. Also, get the warranty when you purchase a camera. me being a cheap ass never got one. Wish i did now. To clean the heads and everything best buy want to charge me 180 dollars. It would of been free if i get the warrantyhttp://www.skydivethefarm.com don't sweat the small stuff, in fact don't sweat at all,, you get smelly!! VisionAir 0 #6 December 8, 2004 The TRV 19 22 33 mentioned above is a discontinued series but can still be bought on ebay. There's a 22 for $319 right now. I personally have one and love it. Perfect for our use. Huh?!? What cloud?!? Oh that!!! That's just Industrial Haze Alex M.
riggerrob 643 #7 December 8, 2004 I don't quite know why, but Sonys seem to tolerate the abuse of skydiving better than most other brands. Sony TRV 19/22/33 is last year's model, so you may be able to buy end-sale cameras cheap. This spring (2004) Sony introduced HC20/30/40 to fill that market niche. I bought an HC40 back in June, did 200+ hand-mounted tandem jumps with it and am happy with my choice.
