CanEHdian 0 #1 April 15, 2003 Got a new Wings in the works and trying to determine the best solution for a hook knife. Has anyone seen/got the 'snap under the mud flap' option that Wings offers? Opinions & recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks, CanEHdianTime's flying, and so am I... mujie96 0 #3 April 15, 2003 Mine is on the front of my right leg strap, mostly cause that's where my rigger stuck it when he packed my reserve. Just keep swimming...just keep swimming....
JohnnyD 0 #4 April 15, 2003 generally speaking, you should not have the hook knife anywhere near the normal motion of your pull (ie. on your right leg strap). last year i saw a hook knife placed on a jumper's right leg strap get knocked loose and it ended up cutting some lines resulting in a reserve ride. for what it is worth, mine is under the right mudflap and i hope i never have to use it. Faber 0 #5 April 15, 2003 if you say in the rigth side, would it then bee when you look at it when you wear it?if so i would meen it should be placed in your left side unlees you normaly would use your left hand.. im a rigth hand user there for i placed mine here(see pic) Stay safe Stefan Faber
nightjumps 1 #6 April 16, 2003 I bought a steel handled knife, slip it through the thread thru legstrap on my right side, then pull it up over the thread thru when I cinch down my legstraps. That way it is secure and visible. ...Bigun
AggieDave 6 #7 April 16, 2003 Lets see, my hook knife locations with my Wings container: a Jack the Ripper I sewed to my jumpsuit and a metal hook knife I put on my chest strap. Don't use that cheap plastic shit that comes with the rig (actually its the same one I've seen come with various rigs, cheap orange plastic), it breaks very easily (just try to bend it, you'll see), its not trustworthy for your life.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." CanEHdian 0 #9 April 16, 2003 Quotefor what it is worth, mine is under the right mudflap and i hope i never have to use it. ...because the location isn't good under a mudflap? Or was that just a general statement about having to use a hook knife? Thanks, CanEHdianTime's flying, and so am I... JohnnyD 0 #10 April 17, 2003 Just a general statement. I like the location of the hook knife where it is.
