vdschoor 0 #1 October 19, 2004 I am looking into buying a video light for my camera. Mostly for ground stuff in low light conditions. What are your experiences with the lights that you used or heard people talk about? I am planning on using it on my TRV17 cameras. Iwan
quade 4 #2 October 20, 2004 What do you plan on doing with the light? Simple "eye-light" to fill in some shadows during typical interviews -- probably not all that bad of an idea. You'd have to be careful with the color temperature of the light if you're mixing tungstun and daylight. If your intention is to fill the bar with light so you can video tape shenanigans, I think you'll be very disappointed with the results almost any camera mounted light would give you.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

I don't necessarily need to light up the whole place, but I don't like the "circle effect" you get for example with night vision. Iwan
AndyMan 7 #4 October 20, 2004 I know a camera fliers who uses a simple single lens Sony video light... Sonystyle is down, I'l post a clicky later. The results at sunset (and after!) are spectacular for video shot at tandem range. In plane interviews also work really well. Dunno about RW or freefly. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. The reason you only see the center durring night shot is because the IR light on the front is small and crappy. At least that was my understanding~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. AndyMan 7 #7 October 20, 2004 The light my friend uses isn't listed on sonystyle. Real innexpensive though, the chief difference between the one he uses and the ones I saw online is that his has its own batteries. The ones I'm seeing now are powered through the hot-shoe, which I don't like because it could kill your video battery..._Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
