SuperKat 0 #1 October 2, 2004 I'm mounting a Bonehead D-Box onton my new Bonehead Optik Illusion helmet. The manager at the gear store told me to be careful drilling holes to the side of the Helmet. If the speed on the drill is too high or if I use the wrong bit, it may crack the helmet. I'm using the same size drill bit that fits the same holes that were pre-drilled on the d-box. Or I can use a carbide unibit. Am I going about this the wrong way? What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
LouDiamond 1 #2 October 2, 2004 Best bet is to score the helmet with the drill bit prior to drilling it. I think it would be pretty hard to actually crack the shell but I'm sure it can be done. Put your drill on the lowest speed and start it off slowly and build up the speed. It will actually drill a hole all the way through pretty quick so make sure you have it where you want it."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
SuperKat 0 #3 October 3, 2004 Thanks man. Now I've got a totally different problem. My cutaway system on the helmet is not working. I'm posting another thread for it. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
hottamaly 1 #4 October 4, 2004 I know this is after the fact but for FYI to anyone else, we use a carbide bit on a dremel tool. We start with a bit size (smaller) than the size hole we will eventually need, and then work up to it.
