Islandcool 0 #1 April 11, 2003 Ok so I got $300 for my upcoming birthday. It is burning a hole in my wallet. I want to get an AA. So do I go for the Protrack or wait for the neptune to come out and then decide? Opinions? Thanks Ed
TheMonkey 0 #2 April 11, 2003 Quote Opinions? pro-track is money and worth every penny i paid for mine...i know nothing about the neptune...my opinion, spend it at a titty bar! --------------------- Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience! skygod7777 0 #4 April 11, 2003 either one from what i've read they both are really nice. now, if you like to swoop the pond, i'd say get the neptune (but looking at your profile, i don't think your doing a hole lot of it, but i could be wrong). later
Islandcool 0 #5 April 11, 2003 Quote if you like to swoop the pond No pond swooping for me. However Otay Lake is right there! Nah...hmmm...nah I guess I would be bummed if the Folks at L&B came out with an updated version of the Pro-track after the Neptune was released. I'm a newbie anyway and a regular Pro-dytter would probably be fine. And hey maybe there might be a few used Pro-tracks for sale once the Neptune is released. Frigg...I'm a cheap bastard.Ed

slotperfect 7 #7 April 12, 2003 Wait for the Neptune to come out, then decide. The Jump Track software, which you will undoubtedly want eventually, is another chunk of cash on top of the Pro Track price. The Neptune may have everything you need and you'll have more money for jump tickets. Is it MY birthday yet? Arrive Safely John

I can't imagine what they would update. imho, the ProTrack is a sweet piece of engineering as is, and the service from the manufacturer can not be beat. Although I am looking forward to getting a Neptune (I too have a bit of cash burnin' holes in my pockets ), it won't be replacing my ProTrack or my ProDytter. Curious about how long the batteries will last on a Neptune; I plan to use it as a visual alti so I expect it will go through batteries faster than my ProTrack does (since I only look at the ProTrack info for a few minutes after each jump). If you just want something to beep at you, get a ProDytter. If you want all the bells and whistles now, get a ProTrack. If you want all the bells and whistles, are willing to wait a bit longer and purchase/use a product that is completely new, get the Neptune when it is finally available. So I killed a kitty and bought the pro-track from the gear store at Otay. Man this thing has a lot of stuff on it. I'm pretty hungover so I'm fumbling with it. This thing is overkill for me. Hopefully I will grow into it be able to utilize all the functions. Thanks for your input folks. Ed

I'm thinking that adding an MP3 player with a headphone jack would be nice.
