skydver 0 #1 August 25, 2004 last weekend i shot several tandem videos and also 4way team practice. on one of the tandem videos the interview, the stuff in the plane, the landing, and the post dive interview was great. everything in freefall was black. i use a cam-eye2 and typicaly i put the camera in stanby w/ the cameye when i am in the plane. on the next dive, again a tandem skydive, i cycled the camera w/ the power switch and used the cameye only as a moniter to know it was recording. this time it recorded everything but during playback i got heavy black lines (horz.) across the screen and when i rewound it it worked fine.the next time i played it the lines were back temporialy again. any ideas what is up with this camera and what i can do to correct it? quade 4 #2 August 25, 2004 It's possible that you need to clean the record/playback heads. One of the things that sort of makes me cringe is to see camera flyers put their cameras on standby for several -minutes- before the door even opens. The camera heads spin up and start wearing away at the tape just sitting in one place and if you do this long enough, it removes enough of the tape material to clog the heads. Anyway, Sony (and others) make some tape head cleaner tapes that you just put in the VCR, run for a few seconds and you're done. Give it a shot.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
freefalle 0 #3 August 25, 2004 have you recently changed the brand of tapes you are using? Ive had similar problems when I did that, I had to clean the heads switch back to sony tapes and put it a new tape, that tape also got messed up so I put in another new tape and havent had the problem again, lesson learned: only use sony tapes....
