sdctlc 0 #1 August 17, 2004 OK, I am looking at a "new to me" canon 2000. Thinking about giving in and going away from my ixLite. It can take a nice picture but the grain seems more evident compared to 35mm film. I have tried both 200 speed and 400 speed from Kodak in the APS. Seemed to be a little better with the APS film with setting about at the 28 to 35mm setting for zoom then at the 22 mm setting. Usually go at Tv with 350 or 500. I dont have a grand to shell out for the Digital rebel but do have the Sub $100 I can pick up a decent used rebel 2000 but w/o lens. I wanted to use my canon 22-55 lens and was wondering if anybody has tried this lens on a camera other then the ixLite? I know it acts like a different lens with the negative conversion factor between the 35mm and 24mm films But is there any issues I should be thinking about? I figured the same settings with a 100 or 200 speed film with the 35mm version. Another part of the desire to switch is lack of film choices and film cost with the APS format... Figured that the almost double size in negative should give me a better output. Are there any other issues I should be thinking abut with the Canon 2000 as it relates to skydiving???? dragon2 2 #2 August 18, 2004 Not sure what a Rebel 2000 is (we have different names over here) so can't help you there. The ixLite I think is the same as the IX7 I used to have. I sold the camera complete with the 22-55 mm lens when I got a D30 (digital), for the same reasons as you. It is a very light nice little camera tho.... The 22-55 mm lens is usable on other canon eos bodies, I didn't have any problems. If I were you I'd keep it since you wouldn't get much money for the aps camera anyway, I think. The 22-55 will give you the 2 most popular angles or skydiving: 24 and 28 mm. Jumping with a zoomlens is another story tho. A fixed wide angle lens is much better, but also (in the case of a digital camera) MUCH more expensive. ciel bleu, Saskia
freefallcrab 0 #3 August 18, 2004 I recently bought a Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel). I have looked around for a fixed lens compatible with the camera but havent found anything second hand and the new lenses are big $ that I cant afford at the moment (the old Sigma I used with my wet film EOS doesnt work on the 300D). I have bitten the bullet and jumped the camera with the zoom lens that came in the box - yes it's extra weight especially on a front mount, but I dont carry it on every lift. The only issue I have with it is that I keep forgetting it's there when I am under canopy so I keep knocking it on the risers. Basically, not an ideal set up but it takes great pictures and will do until I can aford a fixed lens. Use your wings Johnny....

videointhesky 0 #5 August 19, 2004 Do yourself a favor and get the Canon 10D. You won’t regret it. Make sure you get the Canon 20mm lens & the Sigma 15mm lens so I can use it for 8way exit shots. See ya Saturday
