skydivingdutch 0 #1 July 26, 2004 I just bought a PC110 on ebay ($560 - yeah!) Now I need a wide angle lens for it. I was looking at sony's 0.6x but I dont know if it will be wide enough. I'm kinda hesitant about el cheapo asian lenses. I definatly do not want vignette or other distortion. Also since the PC110 has fairly good image quality, I want to avoid any lens that would detract from that. I've seen Royal's diamond & stealth , but I can't really afford those as of now. Any thoughts? http://dropman.com
chachi 0 #2 July 26, 2004 what kind of skydives do you think you will video for your first 100 or so jumps? ~Chachi
NoPush 0 #3 July 26, 2004 I fly the sony .6 and it is almost identical to most .43's without fisheye look that some .43's give. I vid mostly 4ways Cheers!
skydivingdutch 0 #4 July 26, 2004 I want to do some recreational 2-3-4way videoing and Tandems. so sony 0.6x seems like a good general purpose lens? http://dropman.com
quade 4 #5 July 26, 2004 The Sony 0.6 is a decent lens, not great but decent. A little less corner resolution than I'd like but more than acceptable for 90% of what you'll be doing. BTW, not all lenses are consistant in their labeling when it comes to the magnification factors. If you can get some local folks to show you different lenses, you'll get an idea of what different manufacturers call what.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
diablopilot 2 #6 July 26, 2004 QuoteBTW, not all lenses are consistant in their labeling when it comes to the magnification factors. Also remember that not all lesnes produce the same result on all cameras. For example my Kenko .5 produced a wider image on my TRV9 and TRY 17 then it does on my PC 100, 110 or 105---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. YahooLV 0 #7 July 26, 2004 Get a .5 for RW, tandems and whatever else you want to do. After you get some experience....then you will know what to get. BTW, you've got a LOT of jumping before you should even thenk about strapping on a camera!!!!!http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
piisfish 140 #8 July 26, 2004 yeah, .45 or .5 do a good job. however with a .6 you keep more distance and therefore safety, specially on your first camera jumps. as said, make sure to jump more before strapping the camera, and get advice from videoflyers at your DZ.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

ltdiver 3 #10 July 27, 2004 Quoteyeah, .45 or .5 do a good job. however with a .6 you keep more distance and therefore safety Good point of view (no pun intended). Safety is #1 in my book on each and every skydive. However, in my bag of lenses my Sony .6 has a larger view than my Kenko .5 or .43. Kind of seems like an opposite, but it's dependent on manufacture and their own devices. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Deuce 1 #11 July 27, 2004 The Royal .3 You can zoom it to about a .6 if you are doing tandems or RW. Oh, Iäm currently using mine out of a Hercules in Sweden, if you didnät know. Ha! It never gets dark here! Bwahahahaha!
