suit help

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to find a stock or used freefly camera suit for my b/f's b-day. however, I can't seem to find any on any of the web-sites linked here on dz.com & have searched almost everywhere.

You all are my last resource. Any ideas on where to look OR
do you have any idea of a way to measure someone for a suit w/o their knowing what's going on?

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

Yikes!

A jumpsuit is a pretty personal choice and a camera suit even more so than normal. There's nothing like having the stuff there to unwrap, but maybe a gift certificate might be the best choice in this case.

A stock camera jacket from Tony Suits is something you could get "off the rack" if that's what you really want to do. That will work fine for most casual video work. For serious camera flying, I think a one-piece suit is best, and needs to be custom fitted to the body and to the rig which is used.

On one hand a stock suit might be ok but I would recommend that you wrap a note in a box letting him know that he has just rec'd a camera suit of his choice. Trying to get one for him with wings that will be fitting for him and a suit that will be perfect for his build is not going to be easy. Chances are there will be something that needs to be adjusted and that will simply cost more money. Take him to have him fitted and then order the suit. That is by far the best solution. You can go to your local DZ and have your master rigger size him and perhaps he will be able to add wings to a standard FF suit. Best of luck.

yeah whatever the arab said... I mean... that is one way or you can just get him a wing jacket and let him use his freefly pants. That way you can kinda guestimate on his size by the jackets at home.

If he is really selective on size and bagginess I would suggest to go with tarek's advice.

Thank you all for the great advice!!

Right now, he's just having fun videoing friends tandems or 4 way fun jumps - nothing paying, yet.

I'll prob go the jacket route & in a few years - let him worry bout the whole sizing thing.
