A lot of people out there are using the Canon 10D or the Digital Rebel (300D). Both are 6.3 Mp cameras.

Are you planning on mounting vertical or horizontal?

If horizontal, some industrial strength velcro and mounting bolt will work fine.
If vertical, a Shark Fin from Bonehead Composites will do the trick (along with a Stroboframe Quick Release)

IMHO I would go digital.

I a couple hundred jumps, I'm going to mount a stills camera. Cheap digital stills. THat way I don't have to worry about processing costs to see how crap I am at flying camera.

Once I get good, I'll upgrade to an expensive digital.

I presume you mean a Bonehead Optik! In which case 3 of us at our dz have one and we've set them up with two balsa wood pieces covered in a light fibreglass coat for strength in the front where it flattens. They are to fit kinda snug on either side of the lens to hold it in place. You could also put a velcro watch strap coming out the top and over the lens as well as the screw that is supplied. Even a little thin foam under the camera base is used by one of us.
Something like that.

there is a setup that allows for both horizontaly and vertically real easy, (hold on) but first regardless of what you are using don't just rely on velcro, use a screw or a stroboframe to hold it on, its a well spent 90 buck instead of loosing your camera.

now as far as the setup goes, mount a stoboframe, that will allow you to mount your camera horizontaly. get an aluminum l bracket and another stroboframe, mount the xtra receiver of the stroboframe vertically and the mount plate on the bottom. confused?

ok one stobo snap on part goes in your helmet the other one on the vertical part of the L bracket. the stobo plates are mounted on your camera and on the horizontal part of the bracket.

This allows you to mount you camera and snap it off and then mount the bracket and snap your camera into your bracket, making it real easy and fast, and if you are not using anything the only thing left in your helmet is one stoboframe base.

Nice Idea.

Doyou have pics of this? What are the issues one might have with aiming the camera?
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama
