damonsteele 0 #1 May 21, 2004 Would like to now from people that are using the shark fin from BH on a FTP. I will be receiving mine in the next week and have the idea of mounting both the video (pc105) and still camera (Digital Rebel) on top with tthe still camera mounted vertically on the shark fin. My question is this...Is the shark fin sturdy enough to hold the still camera in place during a less than desirable opening? The base of the shark fin does not seem to be broad enough to me. Am I just being paranoid? Edited for clarity
Brains 2 #2 May 21, 2004 Not the sharkfin, but an example of both cams on top of a FT pro. see here Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
diablopilot 2 #3 May 24, 2004 The Sharks fin is plenty strong enough even for a 10D and the Sigm 14mm.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

turtlespeed 226 #5 May 25, 2004 Hey, I recognise those. I went to a metal fab shop locally and designed a fin out of 1/8" aircraft aluminum and had stabilizers welded to the fron and back out of the way from the lense and the screen on the back. I mounted it with Stainless steel stove bolts (12/20 I think) No problems so far. I do "Occasionally" wish it was mounted landscape instead of portait, but, not very often. I also, as it seems alot of people do here, mounted a stroboframe quick release, I am very happy with it. One think I will throw out for discussion though, I went to walmart and picked up some furniture pads. They are made out of felt with sticky-back Nice padding for the still. Any Comments?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
