WrongWay 0 #1 May 18, 2004 Okay so I was dumb enough to buy an IP5 last year, thinking quality would be as good as a PC.... Anyway, has anyone found any good ways to make video look a little cleaner when capturing video or stills?? Just reducing the severe pixelation would be a good start. Any tips would be hugely appreciated. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails.
AndyMan 7 #2 May 18, 2004 How are you capturing the video? Everything I've seen off the IP5 is good quality video... just a pain to get to. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
WrongWay 0 #3 May 18, 2004 Usually I use Pinnacle, but I'm also using Adobe Pro now. I haven't experimented much with capturing with Adobe yet from this camera. The video just seems very choppy looking, not very smooth. When I take stills it's pixelated to the point of which it just looks funky. Here are some stills I took from raw footage this past weekend as an example. http://www.skydivewrongway.com/id63.htm Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails. AndyMan 7 #4 May 18, 2004 Firewire or USB? What format is the capture file? AVI or MPEG? Roughly how big is the file, in terms of MB/sec? _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
WrongWay 0 #5 May 18, 2004 It's firewire. The IP5 records in MPEG. Not sure the size off the top of my head. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails.
blazetailman 0 #6 May 18, 2004 Can you post a few still images. I want to see how they come out when I run a few filters on it. Also, what are the settings and codec when you capture?www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
WrongWay 0 #7 May 18, 2004 http://www.skydivewrongway.com/id63.htm Go there for stills. Not sure, I thought the codec was only applied to the final production and the raw unedited footage was (in the case of IP5) MPEG? blazetailman 0 #8 May 18, 2004 It also applies to how they are captured to the computer. When you open a new project what are the settings? and when you are capturing, what are the settings there? Are the pics on your site full resolution or did you compress them down in something like photoshop before placing on your site? Sorry for so many questions but I'm not real familiar with the IP cameras and microdv format.www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
WrongWay 0 #9 May 18, 2004 The only available capture settings (in pinnacle anyway) is MicroMV format, which is the same as MPEG-2 I believe. The pics are the same as when I captured them, they're not even resized. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails. DaGimp 0 #10 May 18, 2004 well the only way i have found out for it to work better is to transfer my footage from my IP-5....which i never use anymore.....to my TRV-22 then capture it with Premier"Professor of Pimpology"~~~Bolas
blazetailman 0 #11 May 18, 2004 well, the bad news is the pics stay really chunky even after a deinterlace filter which usually does the the job for most dv captures. I can improve it but not by much. The images are only 432x288 instead of 640x480 from trv 27. See if you have a quality setting in the the still capture mode while in the VTR menu. At least you might get better quality stills. I'll look around and see what I find microDV info.www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
