goose491 0 #1 May 12, 2004 Hi all, I've got a Sony PC 105 and was wondering if This Camera would fit it/protect it. (It's fit for DCR PC1) I cannot seem to find comparable camera dimentions anywhere to see how compatible they would be. Looking for just this sort of camera helmet (sidewinder) for it's great protection of the camera and little additional facial protection too. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! TALONSKY 0 #2 May 12, 2004 I have a Sidewinder 2 helmet with a PC 105 in it. My helmet was made for a PC1 series camera. I had to make a spacer plate in order to get the PC 105 centered in the area for the lens (about .400" thick). I also had to do some grinding to the cut out areas in the helmet to allow a LANC plug to fit which on a PC 105 is on the right side. I also needed to clearance around the area where the handle on the PC 105 was attached to. These are fairly easy modes to do. Kirk
diablopilot 2 #3 May 12, 2004 The Sidewinder is not designed nor does it properly fit the PC105. Extensive modifications need to be made to support that camera. Edit: The helmet shown looks like it has had major modifications doen to accomodate a larger battery. Thes will not line up with the PC105 either. Save your money for a better deal that works. An Optic or Hawkeye might be the way to go with a "medium d-box" or "L" bracket.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. goose491 0 #4 May 12, 2004 Cool thanks. The PC1 is slightly wider than the PC105 then I take it? What are the major differences between the sidewinder and sidewinder 2? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
diablopilot 2 #5 May 12, 2004 The Sidewinder is a Factory Diver type helmet with a box molded in. The Sidewinder O2 is an Oxygen with a box molded in. The O2 model has a flip up visor. The Side winder is no longer manufactured. The O2 model is still avaliable from some select dealers.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. TALONSKY 0 #6 May 12, 2004 To be honest that helmet seems to be pretty ratted out. I personally would not buy it unless I could get it cheap for like under $100. I paid $200 for my Sidewinder 2 use and I have seen a few since that will pop up in nice condition around the same price.New they do go for $495 from Square One. Also the PC 105 fits with the smallest battery you can get for the camera but it does fit kind of tight, meaning it is touching on both sides of the molded lid when it is in place. goose491 0 #7 May 12, 2004 Right on. I was figuring the same actually. I definately want something like that though. Gives a little more facial protection without having a full face helmet. I'll just keep my eyes open. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
TimHurford 0 #8 May 12, 2004 Dimensions for PC1 are: 52 (2, 1/8) x 119 (4, 3/4) x 92.5mm (3, 3/4in) excluding projecting parts
 docjohn 0 #9 May 13, 2004 I jumped a PC-1 in a Sidewinder for 4 years. I finally dropped and broke my PC-1. Bought a PC-105. A couple of hours with a Dremmel tool and and L bracket and my PC-105 fits like a champ. Its a pain having the lanc port on the right side but it fits great. The main problem is that the PC-1 is much taller than the PC-105 so you need to move the mounting bracket up.
