cinepaint?

Recommended Posts

Found this tonight:

CinePaint is an open source painting program used by motion picture studios to retouch images in 35mm films. It was formerly called Film Gimp. It has been used in a dozen feature films including Harry Potter, Scooby-Doo, and the Fast & the Furious.

But, no photoshop plugins.

Just wondering if it worth learning how to use it?

You can do much the same thing as this by exporting from premiere as a filmstrip file, then messing around in photoshop. Or generating an alpha matt and painting on that if the painting is essentially static.

I've heard of Cinepaint but have never used it, always seemed like a 'different coloured mousetrap' and I 've never really had justifiable cause to say add a couple of jumpers to a big way..........:)

"But I like this: It's free"
Ah yes, but your time to learn how to use it is probably beyond value.;)
