handyploy 0 #1 February 19, 2004 I own a 1.1GhZ notebook with 384mb ram memory. I'm trying to put my movies in pinnacle and adobe premiere which works well but bringing them back to tape gives me the creeps. the preview window plays for example 30frames while the dv-device is recording 4 frames. rendering too heavy for my notebook? A guy told me pinnacle and premiere asks lot of processing and Canopus works fine on his almost-same configurated machine. has anyone experience with canopus? PhreeZone 20 #2 February 19, 2004 I do my editing on a 1 gig 512 ram desktop and never had an issue with Premier. Are you trying to out put to both the preview window and the DV device at the same time?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
handyploy 0 #3 February 19, 2004 yeah do you think disabling the preview window will make the bring-back-2-tape smoother? It must be if you have almost the same computer as I have. what else do you propose? ctrl+alt+del for unneccesary backgroundprograms? Disabling internet connectivity? It really sucks...now I spend a huge amount on my camera and I don't have the ching-ching for a new pc...
JayhawkJumper 0 #4 February 20, 2004 I have canopus DV Raptor with Premiere. It just pisses me off a lot. The output works great and you can even use a client monitor, but you can't do slow motion which is very odd. Premiere can do slow motion just fine, but heres where it gets weird. To use DVRaptor you have to set premiere up to work with Canopus avi files, and canopus didn't integrate a speed control into the DVRaptor Codec or something so it doesn't work. I called canopus and this is what they told me and they said to DL a speed control program from their website to slow down the clips you want, then bring them up in premiere as seperate clips and put them on the time-line. It's not a premiere problem, just a canopus/premiere communication issue. This is why I just got AVID.
skyfly 0 #5 February 20, 2004 dont forget that youre working on a LAPTOP !!!!! dont ever compare that to a desktop .... I assume Phree's desktop harddrives are 7200rpm ... what is your laptops harddrive speed ? (it's a major factor in rendering time, and ouputing time ....) just a thought ... haBe Simple, Be Creative, Bee! Sharon.
PhreeZone 20 #6 February 20, 2004 5400 and RAID 1 at that Disable the preview while outputing and it frees up a lot of processor.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
sducoach 0 #7 February 24, 2004 You must be working with only 10 minutes of video? What version of Premier?James 4:
sducoach 0 #8 February 24, 2004 Chris, I've been using a Canopus DVRaptor capture card and Premier for years. What version are you using? Are you using Premier only and capturing through the card? Blues, J.E.James 4:
JayhawkJumper 0 #9 February 24, 2004 I have had DVRaptor for 4 years, and I have premiere 5.1 I capture through premiere using the DVraptor capture card. When calling Canopus technical support they said slow motion capadability with premiere wasn't built in so I needed to DL this extra program and do it outside premiere or get a higher priced and better card. With that said, it with DO slow motion, its just that its jumpy and not 100% smooth. It is when rendered through their extra program but it adds a ton of extra steps. I think they may have updated the raptor cards to do slow motion fluidly now though.
