Parky1 0 #1 January 18, 2004 Anyone know if there is an accessory for the Sony PC 103 that can enable DV-In. If so, where can I get it and at what price?

ltdiver 3 #5 January 19, 2004 QuoteSame as a PC-105 I think (obviously without the DV in) Then, that would be like our Sony TRV19 which -cannot- take video in. It only has video out. If you want to have both the 'in' and 'out' feature, you have to upgrade to the Sony TRV22. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
quade 4 #6 January 19, 2004 European . . . ouch. As you may be aware, European regulations require the disabling of DV inputs on miniDV cameras. While it IS possible to re-enable some of the cameras, I'm not totally certain how to go about this on any specific models. Some history and information can be found here. http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1464/ Good luck.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Sorry, but this model is too new, and it looks like it won't be possible to enable DV-in. In the older models of Sony, it was possible to enable DV-in by changing some bytes in the system's software (using a PC and a special program) but Sony changed the way of enabling DV-in by making it a hardware-action, so no onger hooking your camera to a PC and there-you-go By the way: enabling your DV-in would officially compromise your rights on garantuee, (but I have to see the first example of sony NOT helping somebody with such a camera....)Caren
nacmacfeegle 0 #8 January 19, 2004 You could speak with Datavision on 01525 406886. They have ceased to develop their 'widget' line but may be in the mood to advise. Alternatively, you could google 'dv in enable' and see what there is out there. There are a couple of software based enablers. Be aware that if you in-enable your camera you may void any warranties. This whole sad situation came about because the EU import tax on cameras is different from recorders. vidiot 0 #9 January 19, 2004 QuoteEuropean regulations require the disabling of DV inputs on miniDV cameras. It's not that we don't have (miniDV) cameras with DV-In/Analog-In in Europe. Cameras which can record something from an input source are treated as video-recorders and have extra duties on them, about $100-200 per unit :-( As to many cameras had DV-In re-enabled via software, the regulation was changed so that all cameras which can be DV-In enabled are treated as a video-recorders. Isn't it a crazy world? Klaus BTW: We even have high-speed internet access over here ;-)My Logbook
