quade 4 #2 December 30, 2003 Sony DCR-IP220 Might have some interesting specialty uses, but for what most camera flyers do it would be inappropriate. Far too expensive for the quality. FireWire output is not DV25 so sharing of footage is awkward as is editing footage in programs such as Premier, Avid, Final Cut Pro or iMovie. Tape sizes are not the same as what most people are using at the drop zone so, if you run out of tape, you probably won't be able to bum or buy one from a friend. Non-standard layout of the camera means there will not likely be any sort of protection available (dBox or roll cage or even camera condom). Personally, I'd give it a pass and get something a bit more standard. Hell, you could buy three TRV19s for the price of one of these and you'd be a hell of a lot better off picturewise.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
webracer 0 #3 December 30, 2003 I use IP 55 cameras, quality is adequate for purpose. Sharing via firewire is difficult. Cameras are not as good in low-light conditions as the miniDV cameras I have used. I get by though, and it is small and light.Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility. jeremyneas 0 #4 December 31, 2003 I have only heard bad things about shooting this format for skydiving, but I have no personal experience with them.
