PD126r 0 #2 November 4, 2003 Haven't really tried anything else, but in my opinion the Optik is a very stable helmet, which provides nice, steady shots in adition to not snapping your neck on rough openings. Also a big pluss is that the "bake-to-fit"-option
flyingfrog 0 #3 November 4, 2003 I've got one... there are some pros and cons from my point of view: cons: * custom colour is flaking off * bonehead d-Box (older version) does not fit at all e.g. flat helmet and round box, camera does not fit tight pros: * baking option * fit well * thin for a video helmet
diverds 0 #4 November 4, 2003 I like mine. It is a comfortable lightweight camera helmet. Nice to have the option of side or top mount. If you go with top mount video and want to add stills you will have to add a bracket to hang the still camera on front. Not that big a deal. Only downside to me is that there is no room to add additional cameras or flashes. For that the FTP would be a better choice. Skydive Radio
murrays 0 #5 November 4, 2003 I bought an Optik this spring. Previously, I had only shot stills back in the 80's with a homemade mount on a protec. The Optik is way better I have a Diamond .3 lens and a PC-1 in a sidemounted D-Box. I use the video on every skydive..just to have a record of my dives and to be able to play with them on the computer later. I think that it fits nicely enough for me with out baking it. The chincup allows me to have it nice and tight so that it isn't shaking during the jump. I found it took zero time to get used to having a sidemounted video camera....I just don't even notice it at all. So far for me, it's been a great purchase ... I have no reason to tell you not to buy one.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
