AndyMan 7 #1 September 28, 2003 I'm having an intermittent problem where my PC120 will simply not turn on. I usually discover this about 5 seconds before climb-out. The camera will go from off to standby mode, but will not go into record mode. The cam-eye shows blue. The problem has only happened with the cam-eye plugged in. Remove the cam-eye, it'll work. I've had the motherboard on the camera replaced for other reasons, and the problem continues.... This leaves the problem with the cam-eye. Has anyone had a problem like this? _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
murrays 0 #2 September 28, 2003 Andy, Is there somebody else with a Cameye around so that you could try their Cameye with your camera and determine if it is the Cameye for sure?-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
D22369 0 #3 September 28, 2003 When I had my sony digital 8 and the cameye, I had this same problem. With mine the wires had been kinked and it would turn on to standbye just fine, but occasionally would not go to record, borrow a camey and see if the problem goes away. Had the same problem a few days ago. Didn't use the camera (that time) for any serious work so I left it and went on with the jump. Back on the ground I tried to turn it on and the problem was gone... ... strange. -- riro - http://www.ronnkvist.nu/gallery/
riro 0 #5 September 29, 2003 Oh, by the way. Only 100 or so jumps with the camera and 50 with the CamEye... -- riro - http://www.ronnkvist.nu/gallery/
monkeyKam 0 #6 October 2, 2003 Hey Andy, Andy here... I had a similar problem that got worse over time. What I found was plugging and unpluggin the CamEye slowly wears out the LANC jack on the camera, regardless of the model. Basically, it looks as if the jack on the camera has loosened quite a bit. The contact is loose and the wind can magically push the button that way, causing the camera to turn on and off. I went back to having my 4-way team look at the light and tell me it's on for sure. I'm going back to the very reliable (if installed properly) light-sensitive diode thingy (parts at Radio Shack). Very cheap and very effective. FWIW. :) Andy http://www.monkeykam.tv - Freefall imagery so digital you can smell it!
