diablopilot 2 #1 September 24, 2003 So what size, resolution, and format does everyone use? I need to play with it more, the 4x6 size, and JPeG settings I'm using are making the photos a bit to large to display nicely when I post here. I've not done much editing for web display.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
quade 4 #2 September 24, 2003 For stills? Full frame stills I'm taking down to 600x400 pixels and I try to optimize them to be just under 60k. Pretty easy using PhotoShop. The 60k thing is to comply with a constraint placed on us by dropzone.com for forum attachments.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
AggieDave 6 #3 September 24, 2003 For displaying on the web, if an image is over about 25k (tops), then it should really be a thumbnail that can be opened seperately. Any larger then that and the site/page suffers from crap download times and rendering time (on average).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." quade 4 #4 September 24, 2003 It's vital that anyone designing a web page understand that not everyone has DSL! That said, I was specifically addressing the issues JP is having and he was talking about posting here (I believe). In the Forums, there simply is no need to creat a thumbnail since, the attachments don't pop-up automatically. In the Galleries, the default is to have the thumbnails get created automatically.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Oh, ok, I thought he was asking in general, for something like a personal website or something.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Deuce 1 #6 September 24, 2003 I have photoshop elements and I use the "save for web" option, quality set at 50%, and then start with the long axis of the shot at 1000 pixels and downsize until I get below the 60K mark.
jsyslo 0 #7 September 24, 2003 I recently posted pics in the galleries that were 600x400 (I think!) with no problems. Thats the defulet resolution when taking snapshots of video. I then tried to post some "before and after" pics I recorded in 1024x768 (I think!) and had problems with the file size. Thats the defualt resolution when taking snapshots in the memory mode. I didnt know how to reduce the size befoe browsing this thread, thanks for the help, guys!Blue Skies!
