ifics 0 #1 September 23, 2003 I have yet to read anything about a Canon G3 being used for any skydiving photography. Should I sell my G3 and purchase another type of camera? I could spend about 1k one. Any advice from anyone?
ifics 0 #2 September 23, 2003 I also did a lot of reading on here about what type but I am still a bit confused. Can anyone help me with some input on a particular camera for around 1k?
Deuce 1 #3 September 23, 2003 Any of the Sony mini DV cameras that have firewire capability and steady shot. I have a PC 120, it has been dependable. I jump a sidemount. There's a picture of it in my helmet on the "digital battleship thread" and a post I did about the Diamond .3. and .5 vs. the Kenko .42. The mini DV TRV cameras are also great, and most folks with those jump them on top mounts.
ifics 0 #4 September 24, 2003 yeah, as for DV's I am most likely going to get a PC105, I am trying to figure out the best still digi cam to get for around 1k..
Deuce 1 #5 September 24, 2003 Sorry, I thought the G3 was a video camera. Get a digital Rebel if you can't afford a used D60 or 10D. Get a nice Sigma lens. You're in business for about a grand.
ltdiver 3 #6 September 24, 2003 QuoteGet a digital Rebel if you can't afford a used D60 or 10D Just a word on this camera. I went by and played with one at Best Buy today after work... Nice camera, yet I'm a bit concerned about the plastic body. The 10D has a titanium body which will hold up to the 'abuse' that we give it in the air, but plastic? Hmmmmm.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
ifics 0 #7 September 24, 2003 Is the 10D really worth the extra 500? Is it "that" much better then the Canon EOS Digital Rebel? http://www.17photo.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=8363A002 or this one http://reviews.cnet.com/Canon_EOS_Digital_Rebel/4505-6501_7-30519911.html?tag=upidmlp

ifics 0 #12 September 24, 2003 Yep, I am most deff going to get rid of my G3 and go for the EOS Rebel. I think I am going to buy just the camera body. Any recommendations for lenses?
