juanesky 0 #1 August 21, 2003 I need help for I honestly think that this is not the right camera for Skydiving, but since I have had it before even thinking of doing SD videos, I thought of looking for help/ First, is about the compressed MPG-2 format compression, and second about anyone's opinion who has experience with this camera in the sport. Thanks"According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
aarco 0 #2 August 22, 2003 If you talk to a Sony rep they will tell you that the IP5 was a "market developer". They now have a few more micros out with MPG-4 and a better body. A few Tandem Masters are out there using them as hand mounted units for do-it-your-self video- some look very cool. You have to know your software and work as many issues you have with the camera on the computer. Try not to over use the motor - rew-ff-rew-ff-rew-ff.Get it from the camera the computer. don't try to explain to your bodies while they are really drunk why you can fire-wire that really cool jump to their video camera. webracer 0 #3 August 23, 2003 Dude, The IP55 is perfect for skydiving. It is small and easy to mount. It has a LANC port and works with the cameye. It accepts 30mm lenses (like the diamond .30). I just broke mine and sent it into sony for repair, buying another to make up the downtime. The only pitfall is that you cannot firewire to any miniDV camera. You can analog through RCA or SVideo. You can also firewire to movieshaker and output to miniDV to share (what I do). It is an excellent camera and already 5 folks at my DZ are using it. I broke mine by "dropping" it, and accept the consequences. My TRV would have broken as well under the same circumstances. I love my IP55! TroyTroy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.
