VisionAir 0 #1 August 11, 2003 To move this from the incidents forum....... Sorry about your hemet... that sucks! Perhaps this is more appropriate for the Video Forum, but I'll ask here... Over time BH has had several different configurations on the latch for the FTP... Ratchet buckle closes to the front, Ratchet buckle closes to the back, etc... Whcih configuration was on your hlemet? Can you normally get the helmet off if the buckle is not clsoed? I've jumped a FTP for several years, and have not had an issue with it popping open, but I have mistakenly jumped without locking it down and it still staid on my head... Josh http://www.aerialfusion.com Josh, The buckles closes by pushing the latch towards the front and I'm fairly certain I remember locking it, but it is possible that I didn't. I wear it pretty tight and wait till right before setup to lock it down. It does have a flap of fabric under it to make opening it easier and if that fabric is twisted it won't latch completely. I'm thinking that it may have been twisted and I didn't notice it due to the commotion of setting up for 3rd grp exit on a tailgate. I was crambed to the right side facing out and shuffling on one knee along the benches till our turn. No, the helmet won't normally come off even with the latch on but not locked. I had somewhat of a poitive opening with my Samurai 150 but not anything unusually hard. I just tried to recreate what might have happened and couldn't get the lock to "pop" open nor the latch to come off with strong tugs on the bone (no flames please I know that sounds funny). I really can't explain how it happened and I can't wait to get the video from Cajones (No hurries bro...take care of Lew) to see if it reaveals any insight.
