Nikon N70 remote plugin

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone out there is having a similar problem like me with their Nikon N70. I'm looking to plug a tongue switch to it, but the tongue switch I looked at only uses a single plug input (looks kinda like a headphone jack). The problem is that the Nikon uses a 3 prong-like jack. Are there tongue switches out there that are designed to be compatible with the Nikon N70? **Please Help** [:/]

You can make a bite switch by getting a corded remotehttp://www.bhphotovideo.com/bh3.sph/FrameWork.class and splicing a switch http://www.sunshine-factory.com/cgi-bin/data/db.cgi?db=sf&uid=default&view_records=1&ID=1106 to the plug adapter. You might be able to find the plug adapter without the remote from a camera store. If you want a tounge switch you can get a $1 pressure switch from radio shack and make your own.

Just a thought

I use my N70 as my workhorse camera. (i also have an F100 for special stuff). The N70 rocks, and I love it.

This is how you solve the problem:
I forget the model # of the remote switch for it, but if you call Nikon, they can give you the number...mc-12b...maybe, i forgot.:$

It has a camera specif collar and plug on it...the collar screws in to the camera. There is a way to remove the collar by unscrewing this super tiny little screw that holds it on. So, remove the collar, and then drill a small hole in it. Screw this into the appropriate place on the camera. Cut the plugged end off the wire....snip snip. strip the two wires, and then solder one to the collar, and the other to only one of the posts that sticks out of the receptacle in the camera( idont remember which post, but you only have two options, you should be able to figure it out.)

So now, one wire is soldered to the collar, and the other is soldered to one of the pins. Once you have a good connection, take some hot glue, and fill in the hole in the collar. the hot glue dries, and you are almost done.

the last step is to go to radio shack and buy a "submini lever switch" it costs about $3. cut the switch off the other end of the cord...the mc12b or whatever, and then wire that to the sub mini lever switch....fill with hot glue and you are done.

i hope this helps man,
lemail me if you need more info.
