I have an early model sony mini-dv,,,, TrV 7 which has the wide/tele zoom button hitch on it every once in a while .. I take it to a service place locally,,, and he goes inside it,, and apparently there is a linkage,, which can disconnect,,,rendering the switch ineffective...... it has happened a few times.... the problem is,,, (unless you have a back -up camera,,,) you are out of commision til it is repaired........ not sure if other cams,, are susceptible to this,,, I hope not...
