skydivejersey 0 #1 July 16, 2003 Hi, Some quick q's. I have just ordered my FF2. Have a PC8 waiting to slot into my new baby when it arrives.... all I seem to be missing is a wide angle lens. I have 2 trains of thought on what I should be looking at. a) 0.3 - given this is a new thing for me I'm more likely to get stuff in but have been told you need to get really close to get good shots. b) 0.5 - more general purpose, don't need to get so close but feel would need to be more accurate with where I'm pointing... so what you all recon? and whats recommended in the lens department. Not big bucks please. This is a play thing only (at least at this stage!) Cheers. Al.

skydivejersey 0 #3 July 16, 2003 Last time.. a lot of ground, then the inside of my left arm. A bit of a formation for a mates 100th as I tried to dock on and missed, some more ground, my canopy when opened, the locked brake I had, my grinning face when I landed after my first jump. Just pissing about really. Ultimately probably do some ff stuff and formations for mates.
Deuce 1 #4 July 16, 2003 In your avatar you're wearing an RW suit. I wear my .3 diamond on inside RW and I can see up to four other skydivers gripped. It is a great lens for recording almost your entire point of view of a skydive. So if you want to wear something while you're doing RW, get the diamond .3. It really is pretty neat footage. That lens is too wide for tandems and over-the-top RW. You can zoom it to about a .5, though.
skydivejersey 0 #5 July 16, 2003 D'oh! Hadn't even thought about zooming in. Probably best to get the widest lens and then zoom to give more flexibility for other stuff like overhead rw stuff. Diamond lens looks nice but mucho wonga. Anything similar but not so wallet draining....?

If you want two different FOV's you should really buy 2 different lenses. Skydive Radio
Deuce 1 #7 July 16, 2003 Yeah, the Kenko's work. I've still got my .5, somewhere. The Kenko's might fit all the way in the FF2 box, too. You might wait until you have the helmet and the camera together so you can see how big a lens you can fit in the box. After going to all that trouble to make that camera helmet so snag-free, it'd be a shame to put a big-ass lens on that stuck out the front of the box. Some of the less expensive lenses might still do the trick. JP
skydivejersey 0 #8 July 16, 2003 A friend has a .5 he's willing to lend me so we'll see how that goes first but that .3 diamond does look juicy. Just have to save some more pennies I suppose! Cheers for the words camera god dudes!
jsyslo 0 #9 July 17, 2003 Congratts on the new FF2, how do you like it? Mine is on the way...cant wait. Im gonna fly a PC-101 I bought with the Diamond 0.3x. The guys in this forum can really help, plus you can search this forum and get gobs of opinions re: different lenses. Your gonna find that the .3 is good for inside and .5 for out. Taylor your choice to the type of skydiving you do, and Im sure you will have a blast!Blue Skies!
