SniperCJ 0 #1 July 15, 2003 Got a new TRV camera (the 27) and a Bonehead D-box. Most of the cameras I see in boxes still have the hand strap on them. This box doesnt seem to have the room in there for the hand strap. I would rather not remove it if I dont have to. Its one of the new Bonehead boxes with the hinge on one side and the hinge looking closure on the other. On the older D-box, the top nested in the bottom, right, and you held the top on with a couple of fastex straps. Any ideas? I might just do what I did with the PC9 and fabricate an L bracket and pad it so I can leave the hand strap on. I dunno...
Canuck 0 #2 July 15, 2003 I've got the new style of d-box on one of my helmets. With my TRV 17, the hand strap just fits in, but it's a very tight squeeze. I actually don't mind though, it basically acts like a piece of foam in that it keeps the camera nice and snug so it can't move inside the box. See if you can't squeeze it in. skychic68 0 #3 July 15, 2003 I have the new box with my TRV 27. I also had problems with it fitting in nicely. I wound up getting the job done by using a seam ripper to take off the "Sony" handle. I kept the bridle of the handle on the camera and just tied it in a knot if I ever need to use the camera with the handle. If i decide to I can always sew the nice strap back on. But it did solve the problem if the camera fitting in. I have also placed a thin layer of neoprene inside the box so that encloses the enitre camera when it is closed. I think it protects the camera much better from scratches from the box as well as moisture. I do however like the box, even though it may be a teeny bit bulkier. Pull and flare...Que sera sera
SniperCJ 0 #4 July 15, 2003 Chic, Do you use an additional strap over the top of the D-box or just go with the closure as manufactured by BH? Im not sure I feel too secure with just that wire threaded thru the 'hinge' thing. Thanks for the info. That sounds like it might work. JC
