rapper4mpi 0 #1 July 11, 2003 I have a question to the more experienced camera flyer out there. Let's suppose you have a bag-lock situation or spinning canopy where the risers are twisted up. What is the proper procedure to consider when cutting away. I'm not talking about the actual action of cutting away and deploying your reserve. I'm talking about the possibility of getting your head "ripped off" when you release your main and it gets snagged on your side mounted camera. Should one release the chin strap first, then cut-away? Thoughts? Thanks. -Rap
Rdutch 0 #2 July 11, 2003 Ive had a few cutaways with my camera, My #1 Rule is dont film the cutaway. I have a ring site and the last thing I want is my riser's catching on my site. I made my site clean it is one piece, none of those adjustable sites that have extra places for lines, ect to catch. My usual is to look down and tilt my head so that my camera is as far away from catching anything as possible. Then cutaway. I have a friend that is lucky to be alive, from filming his canopy as he cut it away. First thing you should do is try and make your camera helmet as clean as possible. Good luck Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
