blazetailman 0 #1 June 5, 2003 For the tandem video crews doing dvd. Which Recorder and models are you using? Had any customer complaints? Ease of use in production time? Does the recoder close the DVD out or can you record more on it? Doing the research to add that to tandem production. Thanks in advance. www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
howardwhite 6 #2 June 5, 2003 Jumptown Orange MA offers DVD for tandem and anyone else who's already getting VHS video for an additional $35. The burner is a Pioneer something or other. Manifest takes the VHS tape and burns the CD (while showing it as well); no heavy lifting. There is *no* claim that the DVD is digital. I know of no customer complaints. The DVD is "finalized" at the end of recording, which means, I think, that no further recording is possible. If you want the recorder model, let me know. indyz 1 #3 June 6, 2003 QuoteThere is *no* claim that the DVD is digital. Do you say, "We dub from an analog source to the DVD," or do you not say anything? Not to pick nits, but I would think that the very nature of a DVD implies that it's a digital copy. If I paid extra for a DVD only to find out that it was a dub of a VHS tape, I'd be pissed. howardwhite 6 #5 June 7, 2003 Very clearly stated on the signs offering DVD. You get the analog tape as well as the DVD. People want them because they don't wear out and can be played on many computers. HW

Deuce 1 #7 June 9, 2003 Peter, Clay's been doing it a Byron for a while now. You should give him a call. "Digital is forever" is a pretty hot seller. MOre and more folks don't have a VCR in the house. We get it out in the same amount of time it takes to dub a video. The camera fliers don't dub, we just give the tape to the dubber and go up with the next tandem or AFF. I'm pretty sure the DVD is closed out. Cheaper than DVD-RW.
