Sony DCR-TRV19 help please???!!!

Recommended Posts

Anyone familiar with the Sony DCR-TRV19? I am just putting my toe into the camera flying arena. Not planning on making a living with it but don't want to have to buy 3 cameras to finally get it to where I can make decent footage. Would like to film tandems and RW stuff with it. Any help GREATLY appreciated!

As much as I hate to say it....do a search in this forum. There was a great discussion on this very topic. The short version is unless you need to be able to take digital stills, the trv -19 is an awesome deal. If you need digital stills then move up to the 22 or 33. Bone head makes D boxes for this camera.

THe TRV-19 is a great camera skydiving but if you want to do tandems I would spend the extra bit on the TRV-22. I bought the 19 but traded to the 22 becasue it has all the neat in camera disolves and wipes which I like to use for making" tandem "movies." The 19 only has a basic fade to black and a ghey bounce effect. The 22 also has a memory card for digital still, not that this is effective or anything with the capture quality so low but hey its nice for some quick shots once in awhile. This camera is the best option in my opinion right now for skydiving camera's. I do not see why people would spend more money on a PC-101 or whatever. Size, inputs, lanc this camera has it all. If you want to take better stills take the extra 500 bucks and buy a real digital still camera that will give you 20 times better pictures than a PC-101 will take and you will have the right tools for both applications then.
