KawiZX900 0 #1 May 21, 2003 I've got an Optik and I had planned to side mount it. But a friend lost their camera to a riser strike. If I have the D box and that 2000 $ toy screwed in real well would it be a non issue? or is it more prudent to put it on top? Where my EOS Elan 7 belongs.... PhreeZone 20 #3 May 21, 2003 Top or side is a lot of personal preffrence. Look at the fatilities due to camera's. 2 top and 1 side 2 years ago. Losing a camera is something that will happen at some point of your jumping, if you can't deal with that don't jump one.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Of course, I could get nailed on the way back into my seat. I'll just have to try and not get complacent with the position of my head. And I definitely don't think riser strikes are a thing of the past. I know of a few cameras that were lost within the last year."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
x3mcam 0 #5 May 22, 2003 Riser strikes aren't your only worry. Just imagine the diffence in stress on your neck if the extra weight is in line with your spine, or directly on the side. Tomppa

blazetailman 0 #7 May 23, 2003 a top mount also frees up your freedom of movement under canopy to look around under canopy. a side mount is hard to look to the side when it bumbs into the risers. Your learn to get around it, but I prefer to keep my head on a swivel while under canopy. cheerswww.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
