ManBird 0 #1 May 20, 2003 Just ordered a FF2. It shall house the PC10 I already have. As of July 3, I shall officially join the gang of miscreant freefall videographers."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

superstu 0 #5 May 21, 2003 how much did you end up spending? Do you know if it's converted from the euro or the UK pound? by the way sweet looking set up.Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
ManBird 0 #6 May 21, 2003 Hey, Stu, what's up? Haven't seen you at SDO in awhile. I heard you're jumping somewhere in Washington now. Toledo? The FF2 was like $477 when all is said and done. It's US dollars to UK pounds. The conversion rate sucks right now, but it's only getting worse, so I went for it. It's a pricey piece of headgear, but I think it's far better and safer than anything else I could assemble. I also decided that I'd rather have a second helmet for camera than modify my Mindwarp. It came down to this or a Rawa helmet. Either one is pretty snagproof, but I just like the look and functionality of the FF2 a bit more. It seems more like one piece than anything else (except the FFX, which is one piece, but doesn't hold my camera)."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
flyhi 24 #7 May 22, 2003 Just got one for my PC101. Very happy with it. From the price, it looks like you didn't get a CAMEYE II. I did and it's very convenient, but the cutouts make it easy to operate w/o it. Recommend a site. It appears to shoot lower than eyesight level, unless you adjust the helmet back on your head. Took about 8 weeks for it to get here. Hope your experience is as good as mine.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
ManBird 0 #8 May 22, 2003 Actually, the price has now increased, as I got the fitting for a Cameye II. I don't want a Cameye II just yet. I want to get used to having the camera on my head, get my head position on deployments dialed in, and then add the Cameye II. While I may lose some shots at first, I think I could better avoid snags this way."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
jsyslo 0 #9 May 24, 2003 Im just about to pull the trigger on a FF2 myself. It was either that one or the Rawa looked nice too. Do you like the ratcheting chin strap? Did you order it with the new quick release? I understand they have received Cameye IIs from the manufacture with additional legnth on the cable to mount the button right between the dytter pockets!Blue Skies! alain 0 #10 May 24, 2003 edit Quote Did you order it with the new quick release? I've ordered an FFX with it, and I did'nt get the helmet yet because of that It looks like a sound set up (based on rings) but they are going throu a few provisioning issues with those specificaly designed rings... Chivo 0 #11 May 28, 2003 Can you post pics when you get it? I created a new post for the pics... HERE. I'm still undecided between the FFX and the FF2. I like the FFX because its smaller and its all in one piece, plus I think it looks better than the FF2. On the other hand, the FF2 is more convenient, but it has 2 pieces, and having a 1 piece helmet is prolly safer right? Back to convenient... you can watch the videos and i-link without having to remove the camera from the helmet. What do you guys think? Am I really choosing between safety and convenience? Anybody has an FF2? Can you post pics also... if you can, post some pics with you wearing the helmet. I'm not in a hurry to buy it, since last weekend I passed the 150 jump mark, but I don't want to take too long either. So I'll probably order it when I get to 180 (probably in 4 weeks) and in the 6 weeks it takes to receive it... I'll be past the 200 mark for sure. ~Chivo
ManBird 0 #12 May 29, 2003 I think the FFX has ports that allow you to hook it up without removing the camera, though it's a different story for batteries. I would have bought an FFX if it fit a PC10. In all honesty, I think the FF2 is just about as snagproof as the FFX. I think I'm really going to like it. I'll post pics when I get it."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
