lewmonst 0 #26 October 13, 2004 I used a couple straps and bungy cords mounted flat against my dbox for my video, worked quite well. edit to say, that is, the mount worked quite well but I had compatibility issues with the 550 and the camera. peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
lewmonst 0 #27 October 13, 2004 Btw, the 550EX is not intended for use with a Canon 10D, which is not an EOS model. Per Canon's website and more specifically listed under specifications on B&H's website. Which is why there has been TTL issues with some of the 10D's... But... Drumroll please... if you haven't heard, the new 580EX has the new E-TTL II with EOS-1D/s Mark II, D-20, and no, they do not mention the 10D being compatible with it. If anyone gets the 580 up and running with a 20D before I do, let me know how it works for ya. peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
videointhesky 0 #28 October 14, 2004 I use the 550EX with my 10D & 20D here is the link to my camera set up: http://freefall-video.com/images/helmetPhotos/index.htm
lewmonst 0 #29 October 14, 2004 what kind of helmet is that? What flash settings do you use with the 10D? I've seen the 550EX work with TTL on some 10D's and not on others. I couldn't even get good results using manual settings, it was like the flash was screwing up the aperature selection by the camera when shooting in shutter priority and vice versa. The flash, even in a full manual setting, kept confusing the camera. btw, nice paint job on the helmet, but you need some blood dripping out of the brain peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
videointhesky 0 #30 October 14, 2004 Hey lew Thanks for the comments on my helmet paint job My helemt is custom built by Michael Bess If you look real close you can see some blood on edges the ripped open helmet shell. I use manual zoom 28mm, manual mode, flash power set at 1/1 to 1/2 depending on the lighten & the distance i was away from the jumpers 10D settings I used the TV setting, 200 asa, shutter speed 200 I also use a Quantum Turbo Battery for a 1-2 second recycle time for the 550EX photo with flash http://freefall-video.com/images/5-04/imagepages/image17.htm As pointed out by Scott C. from the post below, this photo was taken on a very cloudy (dim) day Thanks Scott Your Humble Camera Guy
sdctlc 0 #31 October 14, 2004 Quotephoto with flash http://freefall-video.com/images/5-04/imagepages/image17.htm Dave, You should probably note that that shot was taken on a very cloudy (dim) day and the flash made a huge difference in the shots. Looks like a sunny day on the jumpers.... Scott C."He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
vdschoor 0 #32 October 14, 2004 Here's some pics of my setup with the flash. I use the 550EX, it's set up in a bracket that ChopChop built for me after we sat down a couple of times, trying to figure out what would work best. For now, this is doing the trick for me!
