I would imagine that you can keep it pretty simple then. dBox is probably a good idea not just for mounting but for protection against getting knocked around during BASE ingress and egress.

Chin cup is a good idea because it might help steady things a bit.

I see no real need for any sophisticated sighting, but you may eventually want to add in one anyway.

You definately want to get a Cam Eye II. If you don't think so now, then one or two blown jumps and you'll be convinced. ;)

Do snags usually happen before, during, or after line stretch? I have about a 90% - 95% chance of opening in a fast track. If snags happen more on deployment than in line stretch, it might make me a little more comfy to put on some sighting.

Thanks. Good point on the eye cam. I may as well get it all at once.

Wow, all i could read, over and over in these posts were "opening in a fast track" and "BASE".

These are not noted for having soft, slow openings, so all i could think of was "ouch".

Are those shots worth your neck?

My neck went away a long time ago. I was also thinking about getting video of someone wearing headphones and kicking me in the face in freefall. I don't know what the headphones have to do with it, but might as well.

Het Quade, where'd you score the platinum Homestar.

Unless you happen to have the VMC-LM7 part the Cam Eye is not going to do you any good on the PC10. The PC10 does not have a LANC port built into the camera. The VMC-LM7 sticks out the side of the camera about 1.25 inches so you may not be able to use it in a box.

What? No Cam Eye? Holy crap for craps sake!
Ok, well, there -are- other video light systems -- you can even make your own if push comes to shove, but NO CAM EYE?!? OH, MAN THAT SUCKS!

I don't think there is a large enough "sample" for there to be any definitive answer -- thank goodness.
However, if I were to -guess- I -think- most camera helmet entanglements happen during unstable deployments. Like maybe going from belly to sit while watching a tandem deploy, the camera flyer ends up on their back while also pitching out and rolling -- kind a stupid, but I think that's one scenario I've heard mentioned for one fatal.

You can use the Cam Eye, Only to do so you have to plug in this little piece with the LANC port on it. I use the PC10 without the Cam Eye as I do not want the extra 1.25 inches out the side of my camera, and if I ever accidently got it snapped off it would bugger up the camera nicely as that is were the power goes into the camera.

The tandem pair pitch out at around 5K. By the time you roll over on your back and get the deployment picture you're only at 4k. You have plenty of time to roll back over on your belly and even sink it down ( or even better track a bit away so you're not below the tandem pair in case of a cutaway) before you dump.

So, no, you do not deploy as you roll back over from your back. At least I don't.

You also want to get down to the landing area way before the tandem so you can get that beautiful shot of their landing. So, don't deploy too close in altitude to the tandem pair anyway.
