freeflyeuphoria 0 #1 March 18, 2003 Well i got the lens finally and here is the verdict. The build quality is very good. The optics are great and there is no vinigete at the edges. At the extreme wide angle there is a slight fisheye effect but this is minimal. The thread of the lens is 30mm and screws straight onto my PC9> Waheey no step up rings. Opticaly it waorks well in freefall and is ideal for those close infromation shots if you are part of a formation or coaching. I'm that happy think i will be buying me the 0.45 version also the blue eye. At last competition for the diamond 0.3. The price was a lot cheaper too. A friend of mine jumping in OZ brought it back for me so i can't really talk about shipping costs and times etc.... But hey i'm real happy with this new bit of kit for my camera arsenal. Rdutch 0 #4 March 20, 2003 I have a diamond .03 and a .05 the lenses Rock for skydiving. The only problem I have is they confuse my camera, the focus is off and you cant use infinity. Also on big ways there is a little distortion on the edge. but for Freefly it is great and I use the .03 for 4way, but you have to be on top of things literally. the .05 diamond is great and I reccomend it for beginner to intermediate cameramen, but if your tight you will loose edge. I did attempt to measure my Sony 30mm .06 with the Diamond .05 and the Kenko .43 here is the results. sony .06 #1 wide diamond .05 #2 wide Kenko .43 #3 Diamond .03 actually the best. I have no Idea why this is, numbers should be numbers, Maybe the measuring scale is questionable. Another thing is the Kenko .43 you need to zoom a little to not see the lens in the shot. But I agree with the original post and I would buy these lenses again if I had to. For what they are for Skydiving video they work great, for general video then you can spend your money on a better lens cheaper or more expensive. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! PhreeZone 20 #5 March 20, 2003 The Redeyes are made by a different company then the Diamonds. I'm wondering if they are worth the price savings over the Diamond.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Deuce 1 #6 March 20, 2003 I think you'd have to see live video to tell. On my 120, I can leave either lens (they function the same way) on auto, and it's fine. Or you can put it on auto, let it focus and then turn the autofocus off. To use the Sports shutter setting, put the camera in manual focus and then focus it by hand. Gaffer tape the lens adjustment down, and skydive. I haven't had the opportunity to see the new Waycools, so I don't know about them, but I do heartily endorse the Diamond .3 and .5 from Max Cohn. freeflyeuphoria 0 #7 March 21, 2003 Here goes PhreeZone jumped today some frame grabs from my PC9. Lens picture is very good lets a lot of light in and the video image is crisp and clear well happy with the purchase. The shots on the rail were taken about 2 feet apart and the spock was about one foot apart. Thumbs up from me . Canuck 0 #8 March 22, 2003 Ray, I'm confused by your rating system. Are you saying that your Sony .6 is wider than the Diamond .5 and Kenko .43? Canuck

Canuck Go figure the sony 30 mm .06 is wider than the diamond .5 and the kenko .43 But the diamond .3 is definitely the widest.
