FINALLY!

Recommended Posts

Well Last week my Oddessey finally came in.. so it completes the deal... javelin, crossfire 2 111, pd 126r... now the only thing I have to do is like 30-40 jumps to get current enough to jump my own gear!:) HA!
I have to jump my but off in the nex few weeks so I can start to play with my new toy!

Sounds like a sweet setup. Curious if the profile and 350 jumps is accurate? What are you loading the canopy at? The only reason I was wondering was your statement of needing 30-40 jumps to get current? My guess is that is from being in the middle of winter in IN. Not trying to be a canopy nazi but more of me being curious!

kevin struck me as being agressive at first as well, but after getting to know of him a little bit, i understood he is a very godd, and cautious canopy pilot. i look for some good things from him, and wish him the best.

ya, the jump numbers are right. and he has a pretty good wing loading on it too, like 1.7 or 1.8.

but kevin is a different breed of jumpers. i think he can be ok with this canopy. he won't be the best for a while, and it will take him longer to learn it, but that just means he'll have it longer. but he has half a brain, so he should be ok. as long as he doesn't try anything stupid

now, am i saying this was the right choice for kevin, no. if he would of gotten the next size up (like a 125 or 130) he would of been a better canopy pilot in the long run.

but i will hopefully be able to help kevin out some this season, and hope he will ask as many question as he needs to the people that have experience.

so kevin, you know i had to give you some shit ;)

yeah I have 350 jumps.. and the reason I want to do a handfull of jumps before jumping it is the winter reason exactly... I went to zhills a couple weeks ago and jumped 11 times down there on a 149, but I want to feel really comfortable making my transition. thats why I am opting to not just jump under it just yet... as far as the wing loading kelly is right its right between 1.7 and 1.8... I dont mind the criticizm by any means... I like all the input I can get, with the exeption of anything out of kellys mouth:):)
actually I look forward to working on my piloting skills this year with kelly... he may be young, but he is very mature (most of the time) under canopy....

btw kelly what did you say about the cypress... I think the only thing in the bag was the batteries.. did you think there was another cypress in there?
pm me..

well, ya i would say most of the time. just because i did a 720 on my second jump on my vx, everone tells me that was dumb, and seams like someone my age would do, with out thinking, imagine that. and then, say all said it was even worse when i did a 1080 on the like 7th jump. i don't see what the big deal was.:ph34r::P

Hey, I hope all works out great and the rig sounds awesome but just in case you decide that the main is too small what bigger size main can you put in the container? 1.7-1.8 is a high load with 350 junmps, things will happen quickly... But sounds like you may be ahead of the curve from what others are saying....
