konradptr 0 #1 January 21, 2003 So I have a Sony PC9, that for some reason chews up tapes when you turn it to VCR mode, and rewind the tape. I can record all day long, but to replay the jumps, I need to eject the tape, and replay it in someone else's DV camcorder. So, my question is how does the Sony warranty stuff work? I think my camera is 13 months old, so that might suck, but are they cool if I have tons and tons of Sony electronics? And, is there anyone out there that has a receipt for a PC9 within the last 12 months? Just curious what others experience is. (The Canada one doesn't make me optimistic).... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
Rdutch 0 #2 January 21, 2003 Sony has a one price rate for repair's. Also if you do send it in dont let them know its used skydiving, and remove the tape. I think it's $275 im not sure it's been a while since I delt with them. But I think they are rock hard on warranty work. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! Rdutch 0 #4 January 29, 2003 When you bought your camera, didnt you fill out the registration, and warranty information form. I think using someone else's reciept probably wont work, sony is pretty hard to get them fix stuff they are supposed to, let alone stuff that they arent. There is a few other places out there that fix camera's I used the one in seattle, do a google search, Im not at home and dont have my reciept for the name. One reason why sony charges one rate, is they replace a lot more than what was wrong. They also put new wear and tear item's and clean your connections and replace the ones that get wear on them. I would reccomend going the sony way, but if cost is a problem, then look around you can find someone that will fix just your problem, and maybe cheaper. As an example $275 is a lot to spend on a camera that ate a tape. Good luck. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
PhreeZone 20 #5 January 29, 2003 I had no issues at all in getting Sony to fix my camera. I just filled out the form online, shipped them the camera and form (with my CC number) then 2 weeks later had it shipped back to me. I used the Sony facility in New England, but it was fast and painless. They ended up replacing 3 circuit boards and a mess of connectors to get it back and running.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Kris 0 #6 January 30, 2003 QuoteWhen you bought your camera, didnt you fill out the registration, and warranty information form. Doesn't matter. That info is mainly used for marketing research anyway. A sales reciept (and sometimes a credit card statement) is the only accepted proof of date-of-purchase when it comes to warranty repairs. mountainman 0 #9 January 30, 2003 Oh ok. Wasn't sure if you meant you had it done under warranty and they gave you no hassles at all.http://www.brandonandlaura.com
PhreeZone 20 #10 January 30, 2003 Warrenty is only for 90 days on labor and most things with Sony and only 1 year on limited parts. Unless it dies right out of the box your pretty much going to be paying.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
