Ramjet11 0 #1 December 31, 2002 Does anyone have any experience with the Bonehead Z-bracket for mounting a still camera with a top-mount video in a D-box? Does the still camera get into the field of view of the video? Is it too front heavy? In general, how well does it work?
SniperCJ 0 #2 December 31, 2002 Cant comment directly on the Bonehead (yet) but as far as front / brow mounting a still camera, I have my Canon Rebel mounted on a Pro-Tek based helmet on a Z-bracket type mount. Its not exceptionally front heavy and you get used to it pretty fast. It was easier for me to get used to that than a side mount, because its located down your centerline as opposed to the side mount. Although I will say, in the air it doesnt make too much difference. ltdiver 3 #3 January 1, 2003 Have a z-bracket on my daBomb helmet. It works great and does not get in the way of the video camera. Think about it, the camera hangs upside down in front of your forehead! Sighting of the still camera is the challenge here, though. I used a laser light to match up the sighting between the two cameras and it works great now. Yes, it is a bit front heavy (compared to not having the still mounted there) but as mentioned before you get used to it easily. No problem. One little input that I notice when flying just my video camera (when I leave the still off) is that I can feel a little bit of push from the front of the z-bracket if I don't have my face looking straight down (filming from above like in 4-way training). Just a little annoyance, but it's no biggie. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
