Frogger 0 #1 March 6, 2003 Hi Everyone, I want to replace my standard risers with mini risers. So, I'll need to measure to see what length I have now. Where should I measure, just the webbing or do I include rings or what? Thanks in advance, Adam Blue Skies
AggieDave 6 #2 March 6, 2003 If you're buying the risers from the same manufacture that made the container, just use your serial number and call them, they should have the information on file. That'll save you time and hassle. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
hookitt 1 #4 March 6, 2003 No worries on Front riser input on a Falcon. Go for it it can take it. My worry would be as you advance in your freeflying abilities is your current container. Measure just the webbing minus the ring. It is not important to have the same length risers as you currently have. As stated, being able to reach your slider is important. However, unless your slider has been modified to collapse, then it will not matter. The stock riser length that used to come with the container I jump is 21." I'm 5'6" so it kinda sucks getting to my slider so I made some 18 inchers. I've used 18's since I bought my second rig. That was most of my jumps ago. There should be many lengths available. It's pretty much up to you. If you need to reach the slider use your current length as a guide. If you have to grab a riser and climb up the darn thing and begin to spiral just to reach your slider... the curent risers are too long. Use that as a reference. AggieDave 6 #5 March 6, 2003 Yeah, but reaching the slider isn't a real good reference for this. The length of the riser dictates the stroke of the flair, if the risers are too short, then its going to be hard to get the brakes setup correctly and still have sufficent flair.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." But I'll let this stand just as it is. Cheers - -My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
Frogger 0 #7 March 6, 2003 Wow, Thanks for all the great input! I actually think the risers I have now are a good length, so I did just want to be sure I replaced them with the same length mini-risers. I've seen some for sale used at big discount over new. Also, thanks for info on front risers w/ Falcon. I was pretty sure about that, but it sound like you have direct knowledge and that is good to know! Thanks, Adam
hookitt 1 #8 March 6, 2003 You're welcome. Question: is there a link to the Risers you found on Sale? Who makes them? I'd like to see how they are constructed. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
